About the Role

The role falls within our Economics, Reform & Sustainability service line which focusses on advising government, industry and investors on policy, reform and regulation – enabling decisions that deliver economic growth, social progress and sustainable impact.

The ERS Team use deep specialist skill sets across economics and policy, regulation and reform, and sustainability and decarbonisation to work with clients to solve complex problems.

An understanding of the electricity network revenue determination processes, or similar utility regulation would also be of benefit.

Bringing a proven ability to interpret, apply, and develop regulatory frameworks, and a strong record of engaging with industry stakeholders, you will work closely with clients across the utilities sector to deliver robust, evidence-based advice that shapes investment decisions, regulatory frameworks, and the approach of government to shaping Australia’s electricity system.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Law or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience (5+ years) in economic regulation, preferably in a consulting role, regulatory agency, utility business, or applicable market participant.
  • Ideally, expertise in electricity distribution and transmission network revenue determinations and regulatory resets.
  • Ability to understand and apply financial analysis related to PTRM, WACC analysis, and scenario modelling.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with industry leaders, regulators, and investors.
  • Knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Market and associated regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.

Sydney or Melbourne are the preferred locations for this position.
